What is LiveChat: the short answer

LiveChat (sold to new buyers as Text plans) is website live chat software from Text, Inc.: visitors message your team from a widget on your site, and the team answers from one shared inbox that also holds tickets and AI Agent conversations.

LiveChat's pricing page says new trials now start on Text plans and calls Text "the next product from the team behind LiveChat". The home page writes the product as "Text by LiveChat". As read on 7 October 2026, Essential, the entry plan, is $25 per user a month billed monthly, or $19 billed annually. Every user who answers chats or tickets needs a seat.

LiveChat and Text: why the plans have new names

The plans a new buyer can pick are Text plans; Starter, Team and Business are older plans kept for existing LiveChat customers. LiveChat says existing customers keep their account, plan and price, and its older pricing page now points visitors to Text plans. Enterprise is custom.

What every Text plan includes: chat, inbox, tickets and an AI Agent

Every plan has a website chat widget, a chat page you can share by link, Messenger, and one inbox for live chats, AI Agent conversations and tickets. An AI Agent answers chats on its own, from the knowledge, tone and skills you give it, and hands over to a person; each plan includes at least one. AI Copilot drafts replies for your human agents.

The widget installs from a code snippet, Google Tag Manager, Webflow, Shopify or the WordPress plugin AI Chatbot by Text. An AI resolution is one conversation in which the AI Agent directly solves at least one customer question. Essential includes 10 a month and Growth 200; the LiveChat AI Agent guide covers the allowance and its limits.

Is LiveChat a CRM? How it works with HubSpot and Salesforce

No. LiveChat is live chat and help desk software, and customer records live in a CRM you connect. LiveChat says its CRM integrations include HubSpot and Salesforce: its Marketplace lists a HubSpot app, built by Text, Inc., that manages HubSpot contacts while chatting, and a Salesforce app, built by Text, Inc., that sends contacts, leads and cases to Salesforce.

Who LiveChat is for, and who should look elsewhere

LiveChat describes Essential as the plan "for small teams earning their first revenue from chat", and a team of one can start on it. LiveChat has no free plan.

A solo consultant with one site who wants chat at no cost can start with tawk.to instead: its own page calls its core chat free forever, and its four paid add-ons run from $29 a month: AI Assist, Whitelabel, Voice Agents and Data Enrichment. For a free shared inbox, Help Scout's Free plan covers 5 users, 1 inbox and 1 Docs site; live chat is listed on its Standard plan.
