Define the work you want to automate
A small shop may want a person to answer product-fit questions while routine delivery questions use a prepared response. Another business may want an automated assistant to resolve a substantial share of enquiries. Those are different buying briefs. Write down which answers require judgement, which can rely on approved information and which must always reach a human. Do this before comparing either vendor’s package names.
Keep the billing units separate
LiveChat’s published pricing uses user seats. Tidio’s pricing distinguishes customer-service conversation allowances from its Lyro AI offering. That does not make either cheaper in your situation. Build a worksheet with a line for human users and a separate line for any automated workload. Use the current account quote for limits and overages. Do not convert website visitors into billable conversations without knowing the applicable definition.
Run the same boundary test
Ask a fictional visitor question that the approved knowledge cannot answer. Observe whether the system admits the gap, identifies a human owner and preserves the conversation context. Then repeat while the team is offline. Record the behaviour and the plan used. Avoid real customer details during the first test. The important difference is how the channel behaves when its ordinary answer path fails, not how confidently it greets someone.
Choose the constraint you can operate
A staffed human workflow may favour LiveChat’s model; a mixed workflow may justify deeper evaluation of Tidio’s automation and allowances. Neither conclusion is a universal recommendation. Select the option whose cost boundary, escalation and maintenance work your team understands. Keep email as a fallback during the trial and reject any setup that silently loses unresolved questions. This comparison is based on documentation; no comparative reliability or conversion experiment has been performed by Support Shift.
What this comparison can—and cannot—settle
This guide draws on LiveChat pricing — dated public offer, Tidio current pricing models. Merchant-controlled records describe the provider’s own capabilities, terms or standards; they do not independently validate those claims. Other cited records provide additional context. A different publisher or a research, regulatory or certification label does not by itself establish independence, relevance or product validation.
Verify any current price, plan limit, label direction, compatibility rule, or commercial term that would materially change the decision. The dated source ledger shows the underlying records so this conclusion can be checked and updated.
